There are several ways to volunteer with the WWBPA!
- Chaperone events and trips
- Gathering Supplies (drinks, snacks, food donations)
- Assist with the apparel tent at games
- Assist with the concession stand at cavalcades
- Assisting with other events and fundraisers (i.e. the annual Craft Fair)
- Contact local businesses for donations
Chaperone Clearances
Because they work directly with the students, all chaperones must complete their Pennsylvania clearances, child abuse training, and be approved by the School Board. Information about each of the items is provided below.
For volunteers, the State of Pennsylvania has waived the cost of the state criminal check, as well as the child abuse check. The cost of the FBI clearance is roughly $25 – $30 and the volunteer is responsible for that expense.
There are three background checks and a training that are required for all adults who will be volunteering with schools and youth organizations in Pennsylvania:
- Act 34 Report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police
- Act 151 Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services
- FBI Fingerprint-based Federal Criminal History
- This is required by the school district regardless of the length of your residency in Pennsylvania.
- Act 126 Child Abuse Training
If you have already obtained these checks due to another volunteer position or job, you must provide us with copies.
